A BIG THANK YOU to those who helped us with the decorations yesterday!

We had an amazing group of students at my house last night working on decorations, singing to fun music and getting more excited about prom!

Thank you to every one of you. You helped us out SO much and you did it with joy!

Parents, can you help us?

Dear Parents,

We need more door prizes for the prom. We received feedback from the kids last year that this added some extra fun, and we would love to continue. However we three moms are juggling a lot of balls and this one is not bouncing so well.  If you can please help us, we would be very grateful....

It can be some little thing... like some Bath and Body Works lotions, a book, a homemade plate of cookies or brownies, a five dollar McDonalds' gift card, be creative.... Maybe you have a connection with a business you frequent who would donate a gift card or a product.

Many thanks for all your support. Your kind remarks have helped us keep rolling. We are in the last days of preparation and the hours are long, but it's coming together and our goal is for your son or daughter to have a safe night of fun, wonderful memories, and new friends celebrating their year of homeschooling.

If you feel you can help us with a door prize, please contact us as soon as possible at besthomeschoolprom@gmail.com or call Gail at 706-373-9993

Thank you!!!

Prom is almost here!!!

Three days left  to save on your registration for prom....registrations are coming in fast this week. Make sure you get your forms in the mail POSTMARKED by Friday, March 30th to save on prom tickets!

Thus far we still have space but we urge everyone to not delay.

Thank you for forwarding this to any home school families you might know who are not aware of this event!

As many of you know we did have to turn some kids away last year and have a larger place, but please note if you wait until the last minute we may experience similar issues.

Below is the email sent last week. The only additional update is our location for the dance lesson/meet and greet is now secured... Footnotes Dance Academy (on Martinez Blvd-old Uniway Building) is confirmed for Tuesday, April 10th at 1:30 to 3 p.m. We will be needing RSVPs for that event and will send more details in the next few days but mark your calendar now . ($4.00 pp to cover the facility-exact change and cash only bring to the lesson and give to Mrs. Griffin or Mrs. Pendergrast)

Just a few new updates since our last major mailing:
(The original email is below the blue updates, if you are receiving this for the first time.)

*Home schoolers who graduated last year may attend the prom this year...... We welcome you to join us! So if you know grads from the Class of 2011, let them know. We hope it will serve as a homecoming for them!

*Our professional photographer has been secured and as is our commitment we are working with a home school family who does professional photographer. Her prices are attached.

Photographer information and pricing:
Note no money is needed to have your pictures taken for a prom picture. Please check out the great pricing offered!  Much like last year, the photographer will shoot pictures, upload them to a website and you will select what you wish to order.  Prices are attached on an excel sheet and below you will see Becky's facebook page and website.
In addition, if any seniors want to have a senior photo done before prom or another day, please contact Becky directly for fees and an appointment.

* We will be offering a ballroom dance and line dance class for  two purposes: for kids to feel more comfortable with dancing, if needed, and for those students who may not be well acquainted with other home school students to come and meet and greet. Cost is $4.00/ student to cover the facility cost. (Proposed time: Tuesday, April 10th 1:30-3:00PM, Location pending).

*We are hoping to have door prizes like last year, and would love have any parents who have contacts or if you own your own business and can donate something, it would be great. The kids all loved this extra fun last year!

* Please note there was a typo on the original registration form. If you have already registered or register before March 30th, it is of no concern. Corrected form is attached.  (Thank you to an astute student for noticing!) Remember register and have your form postmarked by March 30th to save!

* Please encourage your kids to go to FACEBOOK and LIKE our event page     https://www.facebook.com/events/287743157946504/

The room includes a sleeper sofa, microwave, full size fridge, and breakfast. Cost is $64.00 per night plus tax.  Be sure to ask for the Home School Prom rate when you call.

Seniors and Seniors' Parents:
We need 10-15 pictures that are either scanned into your computer or digitally sent to us via email for the senior slide show. We can NOT use hard copies, so if you are technically challenged, please feel free to go to Wolfe Camera with your photos and they will assist you. You can send chronological pictures or whatever you want that in your opinion best represents you and your life.  We also would like one or two short sentences you choose whether it’s a verse, a quote, or something about your plans after graduation. This year our theme is "A Red Carpet Affair."
We want the details of the decorations to be a surprise to the seniors, and as is tradition with many proms we are inviting any juniors who would like to help plan the evening to email us at this address! We met in January and plan to meet again soon!  We invite those juniors to come and help with the decorations.  This is a fun tradition in many schools, and we thought it would be more fun to have the students involved with us in the planning.

We want this to be a very special night for all the young people and feel most of the following does not need to be said with our students, but in order to be very clear, please read these guidelines to your student and let them know these guidelines will be enforced:

GUIDELINES FOR PROM
1. Attire-formal (suits with ties or bow ties or tuxedos for the gentleman and formal, modest dresses for the girls -length can be tea length or floor length)
2. Once the students are checked in they may not leave the building until they are ready to leave the prom. Students will not be re-admitted . (If students forget something in their cars, we will have volunteers to go with them to get what is needed).
3. Everyone will be required to be respectful and courteous. (No profanity, alcohol or weapons allowed)
4. Parents are welcome to come and take pictures and be there for the beginning and end of the prom. We will have a group of chaperones for your children's safety, so we do request that once the eating begins that parents allow their students to have some space and if interested, return at 10:00 p.m. to watch them dance, take more pictures, etc.
5. All students need to be leaving the parking lot by 10:50 p.m. We have to be out of the facility by 11 p.m. The church has given us special approval to be there late, and we want to respect that. In addition any child who is there past 11:00PM will have to pay the extra hour incurred for staff and police (rate would be $36.00 for those two people).
6. A release of liability does need to be filled out and signed when registration form and checks are mailed.
7. Each attendee MUST fill out a Registration form and a Release of Liability form.  These forms are attached to this email.  Print out a copy of each for your student and if applicable, for their date/friend as well.

Finally, we request you to help us spread the word. We have our list from last year, but there are new 9th graders and people who have moved into the area we might not have on our list. Would you forward this to any groups you are a part of and help us spread the word?

So to recap:
* Plan to have a fun evening on Friday, April 13th
*Save some money and get your registration in by March 30th
*Print the registration form and the release and include with your check
*If you have a high school junior, ask them to let us know if they want to help with the fun of decorating and planning .
* Help us spread the word by forwarding this email.
* Let us know if you want to come to the ballroom dance lesson-   we would like to make sure we have enough interest to make this worth the time and energy.
