This year our theme is "A Red Carpet Affair."
We want the details of the decorations and theme to be a surprise to the seniors, and as is tradition with many proms we are inviting any juniors who would like to help plan the evening to email us at this address! We will meet in February to do some planning and then the day of the event, we invite those juniors to come and help with the decorations.  This is a fun tradition in many schools, and we thought it would be more fun to have the students involved with us in the planning.  Please read our other post on our blog regarding this.  It has additional details.

Seniors and Parents of Seniors:
We have added the senior recognition with slide show to make this an even more special night for your son or daughter.  Please help us by sending in those photos ASAP.  We would prefer that you scan what you want to send into your computer and send them to us via email if they are not digital.  We can take about 15 to 20 pictures per young person.  These pictures can be whatever your son or daughter chooses - a progression of their life thus far or more recent photos.  Please email the pictures to besthomeschoolprom@gmail.com

ALSO please ask your son or daughter to submit one or two short sentences they want read about them as they are presented as seniors (this could be their plans for next year, a thought about their life, a favorite verse, or whatever they want).

If you have questions, please email besthomeschoolprom@gmail.com or call Gail at 706-373-9993.

We want this to be a very special night for all the young people and feel most of the following does not need to be said with our students, but in order to be very clear, please read these guidelines to your student and let them know these guidelines will be enforced:
1. Attire-formal (suits with ties or bow ties or tuxedos for the gentleman and formal, modest dresses for the girls -length can be tea length or floor length)
2. Once the students are checked in they may not leave the building until they are ready to leave the prom. Students will not be re-admitted . (If students forget something in their cars, we will have volunteers to go with them to get what is needed).
3. Everyone will be required to be respectful and courteous. (No profanity, alcohol or weapons allowed)
4. Parents are welcome to come and take pictures and be there for the beginning and end of the prom. We will have a group of chaperones for your children's safety, so we do request that once the eating begins that parents allow their students to have some space and if interested, return at 10:00 p.m. to watch them dance, take more pictures, etc.
5. All students need to be leaving the parking lot by 10:50 p.m. We have to be out of the facility by 11 p.m. The church has given us special approval to be there late, and we want to respect that. In addition any child who is there past 11:00PM will have to pay the extra hour incurred for staff and police (rate would be $36.00 for those two people).
6. A release of liability does need to be filled out and signed when registration form and checks are mailed .

Finally, we request you to help us spread the word. We have our list from last year, but there are new 9th graders and people who have moved into the area we might not have on our list. Would you forward this information to any groups you are a part of and help us spread the word?

So to recap:
* Plan to have a fun evening on Friday, April 13th
*Save some money and get your registration in before the end of the year.
*Print the registration form and the release and include with your check – to receive these forms, please email us at besthomeschoolprom@gmail.com
*If you have a high school junior, ask them to let us know if they want to help with the fun of decorating and planning .
* Help us spread the word by forwarding this information to others.

If you have questions or concerns send us an email or you can call Gail at 706-373-9993

Many Thanks,

Home School Prom Committee 2012

Attention 2011 Home School Graduates

The Prom Committee has an offer and a gift for you.  Realizing that as home schoolers there is no homecoming night or really any high school reunions, we want to open up the 2012 prom to you to come back and join us and celebrate.  We have secured a larger facility where we can accommodate more students and would be honored to have you join us if you like.  This is limited to those who graduated in 2011 only.  You may bring a friend or date of your choice.

We are asking for volunteers from the 2011 graduates who would be willing to help us with the theme the night of the prom.  Please be careful how you discuss your attendance [or not] in public, as we want that to be a surprise to the 2012 graduates.  So if you are open to helping us (we promise it will be fun and not hard), please let us know via email at besthomeschoolprom@gmail.com. We thank you in advance!

Please be aware that all attendees must complete the registration form and the liability form and that the fees [cost], rules, and expectations apply to all.

We look forward to hearing from you.

ATTENTION JUNIORS!

Are you interested in assisting in decorating for prom this year?
Our theme is Red Carpet Affair and we would love to have your input and your creativity for the 2012 seniors at this year’s home school prom.

If you are interested, even if you have not yet registered for the prom, our first meeting is Tuesday, February 21st, at Atlanta Bread off Robert C. Daniel Parkway.
If you are able to attend, please let us know by emailing us or calling Gail Pendergrast.

Parents, if you have questions, please contact Gail Pendergrast at 706-373-9993 or email besthomeschoolprom@gmail.com

We hope to have only one additional planning meeting as we know how busy everyone’s schedules are.

The goal would be to meet early on the day of the prom and decorate!
[Prom is Friday, April 13, 2012.]
